Social Action

10:00 a.m. – Socialize with residents of MorseLife from the Resnick Assisted Living Facility.

Holocaust Learning Experience

11:00 a.m. – Hear from Holocaust survivor Millie Selinger, who will present her story and her family’s testimony. Then visit the Gendelman Children’s Holocaust Memorial – a bronze tree sculpture that incorporates 5,000 ceramic butterflies from the Butterfly Project, some of which were painted by our TEPB members as part of a Women’s League program. Each butterfly memorializes a child who was murdered during the Holocaust and is part of a worldwide art memorial to display 1.5 million ceramic butterflies.

Emilia “Millie” Korman Selinger was born in Poland on September 1, 1938. She lived in Poland until 1947, when her family escaped to Germany and then to the United States in 1948. Over the years, Millie asked her mother many questions about the reasons why they moved around so much during her childhood — she’d had no idea that they were refugees, and for a long time, she didn’t even know they were Jewish. Millie wrote a memoir, Hidden in the Open, that pieces her remarkable memories and stories together to gain a full picture of how she and her family survived the Holocaust.

Please RSVP by 5/7/2024 to the Temple Office at 561.832.0804 and indicate whether you will be attending one or both parts of the program.
