Spiritual. Egalitarian. Welcoming.
Are you the firstborn child in your family? The firstborn of Egypt died at Passover when the Israelites went free. As a result, firstborn Jews – usually males – commemorate the loss of the Egyptian firstborn by not eating or drinking the day before Pesach. (It’s a beautiful notion, actually… showing compassion and empathy even for people we don’t like.)
There is one way however, to NOT have to fast.
Participate in a Siyyum – the completion of one of the books of the Torah or Mishnah.
Once you’ve done that, you can eat. So join us!
