 \, Germany in 1933. His parents lost their jobs and were thrust into force
 d labor when he was just eight years old.  After being attacked by a memb
 er of the Hitler Youth\, he had to leave Berlin. His harrowing story of su
 rvival from hiding in a small farming village in Brandenburg\, Germany to 
 living underground in Berlin for several years until he was finally reunif
 ied with his parents\, is riveting. Mr. Kraus will share his amazing story
  on Saturday\, April 15th\, during Shabbat Services.\n\nJoin us for servic
 es as Temple Emanu-El commemorates Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day)
  with a special program remembering the approximately six million Jews mur
 dered in the Holocaust by Nazi Germany and its collaborators. Music by Can
 tor Finkelstein\, a special prayer and a brief history of the “yellow ca
 ndle” will round out our mission to always remember what happens when ha
 te prevails.
