The general aim of our Temple Emanu-El United Synagogue Youth, program for teens in 6th -12th grades is to bring about a meaningful encounter with Judaism, the Jewish people, and the Synagogue. As a result of this encounter, the Jewish teen will, first demonstrate and experience our Jewish way of living, through study, social action, friendship, programming and leadership development.
The goal is to then lead our teens to personal fulfillment and growth while making a significant contribution to our synagogue, community, society and the Jewish people.
Young people seek an answer to the question "Who am I?" USY/Kadima will help young people to find their identity as Jews. To aid in the process of self discovery, USY and Kadima confronts the teenager with as much of the Jewish world as will fit into the scope of the experience. The Torah, the Jewish world, Israel and the community, and all the issues and problems of which they become aware, will serve as a pathway to the discovery of ones self.
Key elements that both USY and Kadima have to offer at Temple Emanu-El are:
Identity, belonging, learning, growing, self expression and creativity!
